Bay Parking
This is one of the possible maneuvers you might be asked to do on your driving test, but what is bay parking?
Bay parking, simply put, is parking in a parking bay, you will be asked to do this either forwards, or by reversing in.

With most maneuvers, doing it right first time is all about the preparation, and that means starting off in the correct and best position taking your surroundings into consideration, have a look at Figure 1.

Figure 1
This would be fine, but slightly easier if you started from a little further to the left if it's not too busy, I would even consider swinging out so I'm at a 45 degree angle to make it easier to back into the space, if the option is there to do it, you could even swing forwards into the space opposite the one you want, and simply back up into your selected bay, where possible, keep it simple, remember to be in the best starting position for the maneuver as possible.

While preparing to start the actual maneuver, you must start your observation drill first, then start the maneuver, but keep your observations and control going all the time.
There is more than one way to approach this maneuver, (pun intended), what one person finds a good way another person might find it not so good, we will try a few techniques for this, see which one works best for you, and taylor that one to you.
