Why me?

I have over 70 Years combined driving and riding experience, and a multitude of certificates and qualifications in Quality and Customer Service

I say "Combined" experience because I've amassed it since I was a teenager, and it's made up of:-

Over 40 years on 2 wheels....

Best driving instructor
Best driving lessons

40 years with 4 wheels...

Large vans

Learn to drive
Driving school

and the Argos lorries that

deliver to the public.

The rules have changed for teaching learner drivers, no longer are you meant to just teach people enough to get them through a specified checklist of things that the driving test consists of, instructors are meant to be teaching "Skills for Life" that a person can use to be a safe driver all of their driving years.

I have the jump on other instructors on this because this is the way

I've been doing it for decades.

As a hobby I've been teaching friends, relatives and friends of friends to drive and ride for over 30 years, I've not made a living at it before because you can't legally charge until you've been certified to teach and passed the relevant checks and tests, and been authorised to do so by the relevant authority.

I would say the best road experience and knowledge I've gained has been with bikes and lorries,
this is because you have to be extra vigilant and aware when using these vehicles.

This means that I can pass-on those decades of knowledge to learners in a matter of hours,
rather than them have to drive for decades with different vehicles in all conditions to gain this experience.

I've taught enough people to know that not everyone learns the same, so we will go over which way is best for you and other things on our initial first "introductory" lesson with each other.

I'd say I'm a people person, I get on well with most people, I can find something interesting in almost anything so can chat about most things.

I remain calm and professional at all times, I've heard horror stories from people of their instructors shouting at them, this does nothing for both parties, and indeed can have serious repercussions on a learner driver.

I believe patience is something that is learned, I wasn't very patient in my teens to be honest, but as you get older you tend to realise it's always best to remain calm, especially in a teaching situation, you can then still think clearly and continue to give correct constructive instruction, and my pupil may have a life lesson as a result, these are often win win situations I'm glad to be a part of, that makes it all worth while.

You may find cheaper instructors elsewhere, but what you're paying for with myself, is not only the decades of multiple vehicle experience, in all weathers that I've gained, that has given me much more experience to pass on, but also my experience of the different ways people learn, my patience and understanding, the option of bringing children along,

(see User Friendly) if needed, and the quality and customer service qualifications.

As well as being certified by the DVSA, I have many certificates in various aspects of Information Security and Customer Service, including an NVQ and BTEC, and I’m also a certified British Standards Quality Assurance Auditor.
